ONLINE VIDEO - Our DVDs Working from a possible 30 different film sources, our aim at ONLINE VIDEO was to create comprehensive, well-researched historical documentaries which would stand the test of time as authoritative representations of each tramway or trolleybus system covered. We also applied the same principles to a smaller range of videos devoted to railways and shipping. Most of the film - in varying degrees of condition (from standard 8mm to 35mm nitrate) - came from scores of enthusiasts from many countries, without whose help, enthusiasm and co-operation, ONLINE would not have existed. Wherever possible, we avoided the use of poor quality film especially sub-standard 8mm but, in some instances, we did use film for its rarity value. ONLINE took pride in the historical accuracy of its productions. Many hours were spent analysing the available footage. Our aim was to tell a story, not simply present film in any higgledy-piggledy fashion. Usually, the footage was eventually arranged into geographical route order when - for example - dealing with trams and trolleybuses. If it was a video devoted to shipping or railways then the footage would probably be presented wherever possible in date order. Each video took a combined total of about 7 days of preparation plus 3 days of concentrated editing. Each rough cut was then shown to various local experts to ensure maximum accuracy for the commentary. Recording of the commentary took another half day and the adding of the sound effects up to 4 days. All our videos are available as DVD - see our complete catalogue for a list. A few are also on VHS tape in PAL, NTSC or SECAM formats. |
